A couple of weeks ago, my cousin came back home from the US with her family. It's been several years since I last saw her and her son so we set up a lunch date. I suggested Elias in Robinsons Magnolia because she missed Filipino cuisine.

Salome's Secret PhP 295

binusog na pusit glazed with sweet sauce

Inihaw na pusit is a must-order whenever there's a balikbayan visiting Manila. Some restaurants would cash in on it by basing its price on per 100 gram but not in Elias.

For PhP 295, you get an order of inihaw na pusit big enough for sharing. I like dipping it in the sweet sauce provided.

For other orders, read after the break...

Calamares ni Tales PhP 225

fried golden calamares, coated with desiccated coconut & garlic mayonnaise dip

Oops... while writing this entry, it just occurred to me that we ordered two pusit ; p Anyway, I love them both. The calamares was crispy and cooked just the way I like it.

Pilosopong Pinakbet PhP 325

Assorted native vegetables with lechon kawali

My cousin loves veggies so we ordered Pilosopong Pinakbet. The lechon kawali on top was crispy and tasty, it added a different twist to the usual pinakbet.

Pork Santiago (2 pcs.) PhP 295

deep fried pork chop with mushroom gravy

Pork Santiago has too much breading. You need to dip it in the mushroom gravy, otherwise, this is one tasteless dish.

Mechado ala Bonifacio PhP 395

natok ng baka mechado cooked in native tomato sauce

We all agreed that Mechado ala Bonifacio is one of the best we have tasted. The beef was tender; the sauce was just the right amount. Add some cheese and this dish would be perfect.

Iday PhP 180

suman with chocolate fondue

I discovered Elias through its desserts, we were not going to leave without ordering one or in this case, two.

Banana Split in Buko Shell PhP 285

My dad loves banana split while my mom loves buco, what do you know, Elias has a dessert called Banana Split in Buko Shell ; p

my nephew who is all grown up

The "duck" holds our bill ; )

For traditional Filipino cuisine, I suggest that you bring your balikbayan relatives and/or friends in Elias. My cousin loved everything we ordered especially the dessert, Iday. She is now back in Boston. I can't wait to visit her soon!
