Max's Create Your Own Merienda Mixes for only PhP 95!

December 9, 2012

Level 2, Robinsons Magnolia Branch
Quezon City

Ever since my my mom saw Max's tarpaulin on the second floor of Robinsons Magnolia, she eagerly awaited for its opening day. She mentioned something about "Max's Create Your Own Merienda Mixes" and her operating word is "mura lang!"

When we visited the mall two Sundays ago, we saw that the restaurant was already open. It was buzzing with families having their afternoon snack.

 Champorado Petit - a Max's Classic Merienda

Step 1: Choose from Max's Corner Bakery Treat

Step 2: Add a Max's Classic Merienda

Step 3: Complete it with a drink

All for only PhP 95! What a treat, right?!

For Max's Classic Merienda, aside from Champorado Petit, you can opt for Pancit Canton (small) or Pancit Luglug Plain.

The Champorado Petit I ordered was chocolate-y good! The downside is its size, it was bitin!

To know more about the other combination available, read after the break...

Merienda at Chef Laudico's BFAST

My visit: October 14, 2011

Chef Laudico's BFAST
Space #3 Restaurants @ Ayala Triangle Gardens,
Ayala Ttriangle Garden
Ayala Avenue, Makati City

I have read about Chef Laudico's BFAST from a blog but I rarely go to Makati so I never had a chance to try the restaurant. My one and only chance was the day of my sister's graduation. I was with my parents and I was keen on sampling the menu of the restaurant.

 Angus Tapa PhP168

I suppose it was a slow day because only one other table was occupied when we entered at around 3 in the afternoon.  It was humid outside and even inside the restaurant despite the fact that one air con was running. The management's solution was to open the other air conditioner but even that didn't help. We were still sweating and had to get out of the restaurant immediately after our meal.

On with the food... I ordered an Angus tapa. It was served on a red plastic plate. A third of the beef was fat. It was chewy. The egg was cooked well though.

Afternoon treat in Dome Cafe Shangri- la Plaza Mall

My visit: September 23, 2011

Dome Cafe
Unit 104- 105 L1

You have all read about my cousin's lunch treat, if not read it here. Immediately right after, we went to Dome Cafe, this time the treat is on me!

hot choco  PhP90

My dad's stomach acidity is acting up so he decided against ordering for a cup of coffee. He ordered hot chocolate instead. He loved the cocoa taste. It reminded him of his childhood days wherein cocoa tablet is dropped in a boiling water.

New Find: Kabigting's Halo Halo- The Pride of Arayat

My visit: August 27, 2011

Kabigting's Halo Halo
592 N.S. Amoranto St.,
Quezon City

I have read a lot of rave reviews about Kabigting's Halo Halo. I have to find out for myself if it is really as good as they say. DH and I went one Saturday afternoon to try the pride of Arayat!

carabao milk pastillas in sticky beans and cream corn

Kabigting's halo halo reminds me of Razon's because these two have only 3 main ingredients. Razon's ingredients are saba, macapuno and leche flan while Kabigting's has carabao milk pastillas, mashed white kidney beans cooked similar to halaya and cream of corn. The shaved ice of Razon's is finer though.

Razon's of Guagua

My visit: March 18, 2011

Razon's Of Guagua
One Kennedy Place Inc.
Club Filipino Ave.,
cor Ortigas, Greenhills,
San Juan 7268727

OMG After eating numerous times in this restaurant, I can't believe that I have not written a single post about Razon's. I checked and double checked under my label and found nothing. When CML and I went looking for a merienda place, I suggested to dine here. It was a simple dining place with a few parking slots. I suggest that you park in Greenhills Shopping Center and just walk across it when the parking is full.

Razon's halo-halo PhP90

A trip to Razon's is never complete without ordering its famous, halo- halo! If you are used to eating 10-12 ingredients in a halo- halo then this is not the right place to go to. Razon's has only 3 main ingredients- saba, macapuno and leche flan. It's not what we locals are used to but it tastes really good and sweet haha The shaved ice and milk make up for it's version of halo- halo which I find very creamy- a plus factor! And yeah, I can finish one tall order lol

Want Want Senbei Rice Crackers

Want Want Senbei Rice Crackers 112g (3.95 oz.)

I have to tell you that these rice crackers are so great that I am now down to my last 2 sachets. A bag contains 10 sachets. Each sachet has 2 crackers inside. I can eat as much as 3 sachets in one seating... argh! I hate myself for eating too much of these which lead me to discover that if I eat 10 crackers, I put on 147 calories in my body. I say not bad at all!

Marks & Spencer: Chocolate Cornflake Mini Bites

Extremely Chocolatey Chocolate Cornflake Mini Bites

DH and I got this Marks & Spencer Extremely Chocolatey Cornflake Mini Bites from a friend as a Christmas gift. I know right? Just saying it is a mouthful. It's really chocolatey good! A bucket consists of crunchy cornflake covered with chocolate. One bar isn't enough. I try to control myself so I eat 2- 3 bars in one seating hehe Oh yeah, there goes my diet! The whole bucket didn't even last for a week. I have to thank DH for that because he ate two thirds of it haha

Chippy and my fresh cow's milk

I know, right? This is such an unusual combination! Chippy- barbecue flavored corn chips is my favorite junk these past few days haha My fresh milk has only a couple of days shelf life so even during my afternoon snack, I downed a glass haha

Fibisco Choco Crunchies

Since I have been going to the office 3x a week now, I made sure to stock up the fridge with merienda (afternoon snack) fare.

Spanish bread by Sonya's Garden

My family and I went on a road trip yesterday. We went to Tagaytay at 3pm when most families were already getting out of the city. Traffic was horrible on the other side of the lane while we were having a travel bliss if there is such a thing haha

Spanish bread PhP120/ 10pcs.

Merienda Time: Bicho Bicho

There was a boy in a bike selling merienda near the office yesterday. He stood near where I was buying buko from manong. The buko is like PhP17 each.

I asked what he was selling underneath the cloth covered fare. He replied "bicho bicho" I asked if it's good and he said yes! I bought two, priced at PhP5 each.

Bicho Bicho is bread with sugar coating. It was a good while it's warm. Too bad, I didn't see the boy today ; (

Merienda Time: Amazing pizza bread!

If you have some left over sauce from your spaghetti, DO NOT throw it away! You can make a pizza by using a slice of bread instead of dough.

Merienda time: Nestle fruit selection yogurt

raspberry apple

Merienda Time: Butter Cookies

Don't you just love butter cookies! I got a can from our neighbor during the Christmas holiday. I can eat a couple in one seating. A can has three layers of soft butter cookies. I am now on my second layer. So, help me with my diet lol

Merienda Time: Tikoy

This is a delayed Chinese New Year post. Since most, if not all, bloggers out there have already posted a thing or two about Chinese new year.

 brown tikoy

I just wanted to share this picture of tikoy. The white one uses white sugar while the brown tikoy uses brown sugar. I like the brown one since the sugar used is not refined.

New Find: Ludy's Instant Ginger Brew

I searched everywhere, Mercury Drug and Watson's, for salabat to no avail. Until yesterday, after my workout, I went straight to Unimart to buy my shitake mushroom and guess what I saw... ginger brew! Just what I have been looking for the past couple of days. You see, I have been trying to get well from my two-month on and off battle cough. I tried taking cough medicines, vitamin C and even resorted to antibiotics. I think salabat would do me good. So, I bought a jar. There are two variants, I bought the original one while the other variant is with lemon/ calamansi.

salabat PhP42.95

Ingredients are ginger, sugar and cayenne (no artificial flavor).

Direction:
Stir in two teaspoons of Ginger brew "salabat" into a cup of hot water.
