Discover Osaka: Random Eats at Namba + Itinerary

Day 7

January 3, 2013

Namba (Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade, Amerikamura and Den Den Town)
Osaka, Japan

Finally, I am down to the last installment of my Japan vacation entry. Thank you for being patient with me.

On our last full day in Osaka, we spent it in one of Osaka's major city center, Minami (Namba). It is the city's most famous entertainment district with numerous shopping and dining choices.

We went around Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade, Amerikamura and Den Den Town. It was fun taking photos of Japanese pop culture and also trying out most of the food stalls that we passed by ; p

New Find: Tea Rock Cafe in Banawe, QC

November 10, 2012

Tea Rock Cafe
814 Banawe St., Siena,
Quezon City

Tea shops are sprouting everywhere especially in Banawe St. in Quezon City. I think the average is one tea shop in every street corner ; p One of the newest and more spacious tea shop in the area is called Tea Rock Cafe. I spotted it a few weeks ago and was nagging DH about it ever since.  We ended up not only having a cup of tea each but also having our dinner in that place.

(l-r) Milk Tea with pearl & panna cotta Large PhP 95 and Wintermelon Basil Seed & Lemon with grass jelly Large PhP 100

Being more adventurous than I am, DH ordered Wintermelon Basil Seed & Lemon with grass jelly. It tasted weird - sweet and sour at the same time. Word of advice to DH ---> stick to the basic like what I ordered, Milk Tea with pearl & panna cotta (25% sugar)  ; p The pearls were chewy, very much like the ones we had in Taipei, Taiwan.

Tea Rock Cafe has an extensive menu. It was also having a promo that day, buy a Bento Meal and get PhP 20 off on any drink. Who would pass up that chance?

Find out what else we ordered after the break....

Free Drink Upsize from Gluteany!

May 5, 2012

Gluteany It's okay to give in

Just a quick post! I just arrived early this morning in Taiwan. I can't wait to try out all the milk teas that's available here.

Wintermelon PhP80; Special Milk Tea PhP80

In the meantime, why not try out this new tea place I have discovered in D. Tuazon, Quezon City called Gluteany.

DH ordered Wintermelon with extra glass jelly (add PhP15). Their Wintermelon is with rock salt but since DH doesn't want rock salt on top of his Wintermelon, it was replaced by grass jelly instead.

On the other hand, I ordered Special Milk Tea which uses brown sugar with extra pudding (additional PhP15). It tastes much like Serenitea's Okinawa Milk Tea.

To know more about the promo, read after the break...

When in Taipei

I know you are tired of reading about my Taipei trip so this is the last installment of my Taipei post!

Aside from the huge pedestrian lane, here are some of the reasons why I love Taipei...

Hello from Taipei December 27-31, 2010

Even when I am in Singapore, pearl milk tea is such a craze! I think Rockery is one of the big players in bubble tea category in Singapore because I often see it in malls and sometimes on the side walk. I just have to try their milk tea! I forgot how much it cost.

FunTea

My visit: October 16, 2010

FunTea Fresh Unique Natural
679 Banawe St. cor Malaya St.,
Quezon City

When I saw on FaceBook about a new tea place in Banawe called FunTea, I have to try it. Little did I know, DH already gave it a try. After a week, he asked me if I want to taste FunTea. And so we went before we had our massage.

I would want to learn more from the owners about their tea but the elder manager was a bit hesitant in giving out information. So, I will just fill you in with what we ate that afternoon.

Wintermelon Grass Jelly 500cc PhP60

I love the taste of this! 700cc costs only an additional PhP10. I had the usual Pearl Milk Tea not in the picture, I am saving precious space.

It's been over a year since my last visit to Taipei, Taiwan and I still can't get over my craze of their Pearl Milk Tea. When I visited the US and Canada last year, I was so delighted to see that Pearl Milk Tea, they call it Bubble/ Boba Tea, finally found its way there. I was acting a bit crazy/ecstatic because I tend to order it in every state that we visited. In Canada, it was Ten Ren Tea shop that offers the exact mixture as the one I've tasted in the streets of Taipei.

When I came back from my vacation, I realized how much I missed my milk tea. I have searched every kiosk, booth and store and was even terrified when I learned that one of the stores that offer milk tea uses powder instead of real milk i my tea. Now, that's a shame~

But now, I'm happy to share that I don't have to look far for my quest to find my perfect pearl milk tea is just within my reach and hopefully yours too~ A few weeks back, AC and I went to Ersao West Ave. and ordered their Pearl Milk Tea, Spicy Squid and their Dumplings- steamed then fried at the bottom- delicious! At, PhP40, their Pearl Milk tea is genuinely like the one in Taiwan. Their spicy squid was not like the one posted on their picture though, a bit toasted to me. Nevertheless, AC and I consumed all the food that we ordered.

Just yesterday, AC and I were back in Ersao to satisfy my yet again addiction to milk tea. This time we visited their Banawe branch. It was a bit smaller with few seating area and fewer selection on the menu. AC ordered two Pearl Milk Tea.
