Father-Daughter Bonding at Masuki SM Megamall

January 11, 2013

Masuki
Lower Ground Floor
Bldg. B, SM Megamall
EDSA

Once in awhile, my dad and I go out on a father-daughter bonding session. One of the things we love doing together is eating. We were in SM Megamall the other week when we chanced upon his favorite restaurant when he was a kid- Masuki.

 Original Mami Special PhP 120

He wanted to try it out not just to reminisce the old days but to let me experience what he ate when he was younger.

Original Mami Special has chicken and pork topping. Unlike in the photo on the menu, the chicken and pork can't be easily distinguished in our bowl of Original Mami Special.

Remember When: Dragon Noodle Center in Malate

Do you have a childhood memory of your favorite restaurant that your family used to frequent to? Well, I do and it's Dragon Noodle Center located in Malate, Manila. Actually, I have written a post about it before, you can view it here. Admittedly, I took lousy photos. Photos which I am not so proud of ; p Instead of updating the post, I am now writing a new one ; p

 asado with rice PhP140

After rediscovering it back in 2009, I usually find myself back in this restaurant whenever I am in Manila.

For only PhP 140, you will get a plateful of asado with sauce-pa-lang-ulam-na ; p Now, all you need is an order of extra rice so you can now share this order with your best friend.

This dish is exactly how I remembered it back in those days ; )

New find: Tung Lo Wan Food Express

My visit: August 14, 2011

Tung Lo Wan's Food Express (TLW)

San Juan City

Although several weeks have passed, DH and I still have Hong Kong hang over. One Sunday, DH and I decided to treat his mom to a Chinese restaurant aptly named Tung Lo Wan (TLW) Food Express. Tung Lo Wan is a road in Causeway Bay and Tai Hang on the north side of the Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Its specialty is anything roast!

pork asado (per plate) PhP200

We entered a half full restaurant. We were asked if we have any reservation, we don't. A round table near the cashier was vacant so we were guided over there. Being true to Hong Kong style set up, I was half expecting that the server would be asking us to share our table for six with other diners much like the ones I saw when we dine in Tsui Wah, a bustling restaurant in Hong Kong ; p Good thing they did not as most of the tables reserved were not yet filled even after we left the venue.

The pork asado is thickly sliced and glazed on the outside. If per plate order is too much for you, it also offers per 100g for only PhP60.

King Chef Banawe

My visit: March 26, 2011

King Chef Banawe

It has been awhile since I posted about my Saturday lunch date with DH. On our way to work, DH was attacked by his hunger pangs. We decided to eat in King Chef. A relative of ours celebrated her birthday sometime last year on the said venue so this is not my first time to eat here. But this is our first time to try their dim sum.

Appetizing to look at, I would want it to have more meat than fat though. Served hot.
