Before we leave for Canada in a few days, DH and I visited Sofitel Philippine Plaza to wine and dine in style. We were supposed try Sunset Barbecue buffet at the Sunset Bar but unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating last night. Fortunately for us, we learned that Sofitel is celebrating the harvest with the French Wine Week.
Sofitel celebrates the harvest with the French wine week
Wine Harvest dinner serves a full course menu starting with salad, appetizer, soup, entree and a delectable choice of desserts. For photos of what we ate, read more after the break....
unlimited glass of red and white wine
Bottles of Lumiere de France 2008 were served to diners last night. It was free-flowing, you can choose to opt for chilled or room temperature wine. For non-wine drinkers like me, do not fret as local beer, iced tea and soda are free-flowing as well.
Harvest Season menu:
Mix salad of the Jardin
For dressing on your salad, you have a choice of Thousand Island, French and Caesar.
Appetizer Tartine
Crouton with cheese
Crouton with cheese and dried fruit on top was my favorite, I think I ate 2 ; p
Traditional Paysant cabbage soup
Cabbage soup is best paired with soft bread with butter.
Ham, cheese and leak Quiche
It looks like a pie, you eat it as a pie. It was very cheesy, I like it.
Grilled sausage
Pork flank
Grilled pork liempo with peppercorn sauce, what a great combination!
Chicken breast A la Braise
Chicken breast with a special mix of mustard sauce on the side was tender and juicy. Kids on the other table loved it.
Vegetable Gratin
My personal favorite was the gratin, the brown crust was just right!
Tartiflette
Tartiflette is a French dish from the Haute Savoie region of
France. It is made with potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons and onions.
A popular variation of this dish is to replace the lardons with smoked
salmon. -Wikipedia
Liver pate, mustard and Cornichon
Fruits in season
Tartes (lychee, strawberry and blueberries)
Strawberry... my choice of ice cream
casual fri-date night (background: french guy playing accordion)
It's been awhile since we had a "fri-date" night. I am glad we found time to spend some time alone... naks!
For people who wanted an intimate set up away from the busy crowd at Spiral, the Wine Harvest dinner is for you. You still have until tonight to enjoy the menu (PhP 1480/pax) and the French guy who plays accordion with passion. Call and reserve a seat now- 5515555.
