Crystal Jade Greenhills

My visit: November 18, 2010

Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao
Unit 117- 121 Virra Mall
Greenhills Shopping Center
5706910   5706912

Since its opening, people were lining non stop for this restaurant. After two months from its opening date, I was finally able to try this restaurant with my parents.

There were a few vacant tables when we went in. An over eager waiter approached our table and started to talk us into ordering almost everything in multiple of two. Whoa! I told him jokingly "Tatlo lang kami, ano kami... baboy?" ; p And he continued on to tell me that the people on the other table ordered quite a lot. I countered that we can only eat so much.

Here's what we have ordered:

sauteed chicken with cashew nuts in spicy sauce (served with pancake) PhP288

The order is smaller than what it looks like in the photo but was good enough for all three of us. It's not overly spicy. It has just the right kick in it. I wrap mine with the pancake included. The pancakes are much like the ones Chinese restaurants serve with a Peking duck order.

Merienda Time: Fu Chi Dumpling's cuapao

Ever since DH and I discovered Fu Chi Dumpling in Banawe, we have been going back and craving for more of their cuapao. I know, right, it should have been their dumplings that we are craving since it's the restaurant's name but we really like love their cuapao.

Their cuapao is always gone by the time we were there around 5 in the afternoon so you have to sometimes phone in your order to reserve and specify your pick up time. Or sometimes, we are too early and the special soft bread has not yet been delivered.

The cuapao is prepared only upon ordering. So, you are guaranteed with freshness. The cuapao is served still warm.

The picture below was my take out cuapao heated in microwave oven for a minute. The same aroma, softness of the bread and delicious fillings eventhough it has been sitting in our ref for over a day.

Cuapao means folded steamed sweet buns with filling usually hung ma (pork stew).

Writing this post makes me hungry....hmmm!

New Find: Fu Chi Dumpling

My visit: January 30, 2010

Fu Chi Dumpling
Banawe, Quezon City
3871159

This is a small eatery where the owners themselves make the delicious dumplings and its sauce! You can see the food that you order being cook through the glass windows dividing the dining area and the kitchen area.

On the day that I went there, a family of Taiwanese was dining and I heard of a phone in order of 25 pieces Kwapao to be picked up at 4pm. DH already told and raved about their Kwapao. Too bad, I was not able to taste it. We went a bit earlier than their opening time which is at 11am. And they are still preparing/ cooking stuff like the vegetable side dishes. The delivery of the bread they use for Kwapao has not arrived yet.

DH ordered tofu PhP60. I like my tofu to be smooth and custard like. And this is not it. It's more like the local version of tofu- tokwa.

pork humba PhP120

I can easily finish this order because I like how the pork humba tastes not too sweet and not too salty because of too much soy sauce. The pork is very tender. What I can only complain about is that the serving is a tad too small ;p But its only PhP120 an order so I don't have the right to complain, right?
