Last Saturday, I was invited to Lock & Lock's Blogger Day. I know that it will have a cooking demo as part of its program but what I didn't know is that it's another shopping event! Remember, I have told you about Yves Rocher shopping event two weeks ago, right? If you have not read about it, shame on you, please visit here. That, my dear readers, served as my warm up because during Lock & Lock's event, I totally rocked it ; p I got everything I needed plus more!

I am a loyal user of Lock & Lock. When the brand came out with Boroseal Microwavable Glass container a few years ago, I was one of the many others who trooped to its stand alone store in Shangri-la Mall and bought several containers to be used as our office baonan (lunch box). Really, it is a no brainer to switch from plastic into glass. I even changed our food cover, you can view it here.

Ok, before I start blabbing about what I got that day, let's get on with the program. Lock & Lock invited Chef Cherry of Hwa Rang Korean Restaurant. She cooked two dishes for us using Lock & Lock's Cookplus Ceramica pan. What sets it apart from other non-stick pan is that it is PFOA-Free.
Perfluorooctanoic acid is:
- a carcinogen
- liver toxicant
- a developmental toxicant
- exerts hormonal effects including alteration of thyroid hormone levels
Scary, isn't it? I learned that most non-stick pan is not PFOA-Free. Yes, even the expensive brand that you are thinking of right now!
Here are the two dishes that Chef Cherry cooked during the demo:
Mander Kuk
Ingredients for Mander Kuk (1 serving):
- 5 pcs. dumplings
- 1 egg
- 1 leek -cut diagonally
- 1/2 cup seaweeds
- slices of beef
- salt
- dashida
Procedure:
- Boil 2 cups of water, once boiled, pour in seaweeeds let it simmer for 10 minutes
- Put the slices of beef and simmer
- Drop dumplings and let it boil
- Once the dumplings float, put a pinch of salt, dashida, leeks
- Once cooked, pour beaten egg on top
Samgyupsal (pork belly/bacon)
I love Korean food, in fact, I have written a post on how to eat Samgyupsal or pork belly. The traditional Korean way of eating it is called Sangchu-ssam.

While the chef was cooking, I could not help but see the store's 10% and 20% discount signs all over the shelves. Of course, the shopaholic in me was already counting the pesos in my wallet ; p
