When my SIL and I went to Shangri-la Plaza Mall with my baby last week, she bought a self-feeding straw from AiNon Baby in Rustan's. We have long been searching for this to help my baby drink comfortably in a upright position. This will help her train on how to drink on a sippy cup when she gets a little older.

My baby girl attended her first ever event last Saturday... yipee! We were invited by AMSPEC (Amalgamated Specialties Corporation), makers of T-Pencil and Crayola products, to join in an afternoon of Arts and Crafts.

 activity #2: DIY hand puppet

We arrived at the venue an hour late, parents and their kids were already doing activity number 2 ; p Kids/activities were segregated by age group. I think my little girl was the youngest of them all ; )

AMSPEC and Gymboree provided all the materials needed for the DIY hand puppet. All we needed to do was follow the instructions of the teacher.

Alas! After salivating from so many photos of Maple dishes taken by Instagram users that I follow, I was finally able to try it during Mother's Day ; )

The Maple Burger PhP 475

A juicy grilled patty, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, fried onion rings and maple glazed bacon

I will start with The Maple Burger, the patty was juicy. The melted cheese on top kept the burger compact even after slicing it into four for sharing ; p I noticed that the bun was small for its burger though. The bacon was cooked just the way I like it. How I wish there were several more onion rings on the side and not just three. After all, I am paying PhP 475 for this meal alone.

And, uh, I think the country fries do not belong with this order but in The Big Maple Breakfast ; p I don't know why it was served together with The Maple Burger. I just noticed it while writing this entry.

DH and I were supposed to go to Solaire to celebrate my birthday but he went home late so we ended up in Shangri-la's East Wing. I was initially looking for this new restaurant called Maple but we were not able to locate it... bummer! We settled for Texas Roadhouse Grill instead because it is a lot like Chili's (It has fajitas!!!). I was craving for fajitas for days, finally, I get the chance to eat one on my birthday!

The PhP 1 Appetizer flyer was handed over to us before we were ushered to our table. We picked Jessie James Sampler because it was the priciest one ; p On my next visit, I will order Santa Fe Nachos (PhP 365) because it looks appetizing, I saw one being served on another table.

Last weekend, my family and I were in Shangri-la Plaza Mall. A Sunday trip to a mall is not complete without dining inside one of the fancy restaurants for merienda.

Puto Bumbong PhP70

Via Mare is a popular choice among us siblings. It's a no-brainer to pick this restaurant every time we crave for our favorite Filipino kakanin like Puto Bumbong (shown in the photo above).

Puto Bumbong- A variation of steamed rice cake. Traditionally made from a special variety of heirloom glutinous rice called Pirurutong which ahs a distinctly purple color, soaked in salted water and dried overnight and then poured into bumbong or bamboo tubes and then steamed until the steam rises out of the bamboo tubes. It is usually served topped withe butter or margarine and shredded coconut mixed with sugar.

We order Puto Bumbong every time we dine in Via Mare. In fact, we like this way better than bibingka, another steamed rice cake variation, that Via Mare is well-known for.

I suggested that we have our rendezvous in Recipes by Cafe Metro since I was pretty much satisfied with the food that was served there, if my memory serves me well lol

The photo above is of General's Chicken. It kinda reminded me of this dish that I am really fond of ordering when I was in Taipei. This version has eggplant instead of nuts that is found in the Taiwanese version. This dish's sauce closely resembles sweet & sour with only a slight hint of the sourness ; p It is not overly sweet so I give this a thumbs up!

SPOTTED! Kim Chiu, a local movie and TV actress, shopping inside People Are People, Shangri- La Plaza Mall last Sunday. While my mom, sister and I were busy fitting several clothes, Kim Chiu was piling up dresses, blouses and other clothing garments in the cashier area. After fitting several blouses and pants, I ended up buying 2 jeggings- one in blue and the other one in black. Both in size SMALL lol

Sneaky me, always when DH is not around, I will order a cinnamon roll. I am a late bloomer when it comes to the cinnamon taste. My palate was not accustomed to it but I learned how to like it.
