Lola Cafe + Bar in Quezon City

April 19, 2013

Lola Cafe Bar
99 Sct. Lozano St.,
Quezon City
5012620

Happy Mother's Day!

Quezon City never runs out of new restaurants and that's one of the reasons why I love living here. Last month, I tried this new restaurant called Lola Cafe + Bar with my girl friends. We sampled a few dishes, there are some hits and misses. I found out that the restaurant just opened a few months before and maybe it is still finding its identity and flavor. Well, there's always room for improvement.

Garden Salad PhP 280

Romaine, arugula, cucumber, parmesan with candied walnut, feta cheese, fresh tomato and greek vinaigrette

An order of Garden Salad is good for sharing. The vegetable were not wilted and the amount dressing was just right. I also loved the shaved parmesan, candied walnut and feta cheese. These ingredients reminded me of Cyma's Roka Salata.

Wholesome Goodness at GrandMomma's Kitchen

February 20, 2013

GrandMomma's Kitchen
G/F Il Terrazzo Bldg.,
Tomas Morato, Quezon City
09178030211

A few weeks ago, I tried out the newest restaurant in Il Terrazzo called GrandMomma's Kitchen. The restaurant has a homey ambiance that will make you want to order everything on the menu ; )

Strawberry Banana French Toast PhP 165

I ordered a Strawberry Banana French Toast under the All Day Breakfast section. At PhP 165, it was worth it. As you can see in the photo above, the restaurant did not scrimp on its ingredients. There were generous slices of bananas and strawberries as well. Oh, and I love the whipped cream on top ; )

Spareribs Rice at Le Ching Tea House in Greenhills

January 28, 2013

Le Ching Too
Ground Floor, Shoppesville
Greenhills Shopping Center

I can't believe I have not blogged about one of my favorite comfort food in the metro!!! When my siblings and I were younger, we often dine in Le Ching. I think I even influenced a few of my college girl friends to hang out in Le Ching if our school load permitted it.

 Spareribs Rice PhP 148

I almost always order Spareribs Rice. It still tasted the same - juicy and meaty. I always feel that I am eating healthy food because I think the spareribs were steamed. Oh, just correct me if I am wrong lol

New Find: Tea Rock Cafe in Banawe, QC

November 10, 2012

Tea Rock Cafe
814 Banawe St., Siena,
Quezon City

Tea shops are sprouting everywhere especially in Banawe St. in Quezon City. I think the average is one tea shop in every street corner ; p One of the newest and more spacious tea shop in the area is called Tea Rock Cafe. I spotted it a few weeks ago and was nagging DH about it ever since.  We ended up not only having a cup of tea each but also having our dinner in that place.

(l-r) Milk Tea with pearl & panna cotta Large PhP 95 and Wintermelon Basil Seed & Lemon with grass jelly Large PhP 100

Being more adventurous than I am, DH ordered Wintermelon Basil Seed & Lemon with grass jelly. It tasted weird - sweet and sour at the same time. Word of advice to DH ---> stick to the basic like what I ordered, Milk Tea with pearl & panna cotta (25% sugar)  ; p The pearls were chewy, very much like the ones we had in Taipei, Taiwan.

Tea Rock Cafe has an extensive menu. It was also having a promo that day, buy a Bento Meal and get PhP 20 off on any drink. Who would pass up that chance?

Find out what else we ordered after the break....

Pho Hoa in Robinsons Magnolia

October 20, 2012

Pho Hoa Noodle Soup | My Thai
3rd Level, Cinema
Robinsons Magnolia
4427537

What to do on a date night? Well, DH and I usually spend our "Saturdate Nights" trying out new restaurants (not exactly fancy) and watching a movie. Since Robinsons Magnolia opened, it has become our date place because it is nearer our place than Trinoma and Greenhills Shopping Center. It does not matter to us that there are not so many food choices because not all establishments are open yet. Tao Yuan is one restaurant that we are looking forward to open, hopefully sooner than later.

Anyway, last Saturday, I called my mom and I asked her where she was, she said they (dad, mom & sis) were in Robinsons Magnolia. Great, I said, DH and I decided to watch the movie entitled Argo, starred and directed by Ben Affleck. On side note, DH expected it to be an action movie but it turned out to be more of a political drama ; p We want our money back... chos!

Right before watching Argo, we had dinner in Pho Hoa with my family. I think we only have less than an hour to eat and DH was craving for noodles as usual and it's the only restaurant that was  closest to the cinema aside from My Thai ; p

Pho Chin Nac (Brisket Pho) To Lon (large bowl) PhP 295

There were 3 kinds of Pho-Noodle Soup:
  • Pho Nam (Flank Pho)
  • Pho Chin Nac (Brisket Pho)
  • Pho Bo Vien (Meatball Pho)

I took a photo of Pho-Noodle Soup For The Beginners, I think it's a guideline on how to eat the noodles. I am sharing it here:

There will be a selection of condiments on your table, including basil, beansprouts and hoisin, a sweet bean paste. Flavor the soup by adding herbs and vegetables directly into the broth, " Chili peppers are also available" either break them up in your spoon or, if, you're courageous throw the whole chili in. Then squeeze a wedge of lemon into the soup. On the side, prepare a dipping bowl of the sauce or just hoisin, some mix the two together. With chopsticks, select portions of the meat, dip in the sauce and eat.

This was my sister's order. She specifically asked for thin slices of beef and she got it! The soup was served hot and it was appetizing. Don't you agree just by looking at my photo?

Also available in To Nho (small bowl) PhP 250

Date Night in Cafe Juanita

June 2, 2012

Cafe Juanita
#19 West Capitolyo Drive
Barrio Capitolyo, Pasig City
6330357   7101562

After closing a deal with a furniture shop in the area, DH and I spotted Cafe Juanita. I would have mistaken it as an old house if not for the signage seated on top of the deck.

Cafe Juanita

We walked in without reservation. Girl, am I glad we were given a table! This is one Asian Fusion restaurant that we would be going back for more...

The Works Bistro in Il Terrazzo

April 19, 2012

The Works Bistro
2nd Level, Il Terrazzo
Tomas Morato Ave. cor. Sct. Madrinan,
Quezon City

When a college friend and I had an impromptu meet-up, we decided to set it over lunch in The Works Bistro. Parking is a huge problem in Tomas Morato area that's why I like to set up lunch meetings in Il Terrazzo. The outer parking is free of charge while inner and basement parking cost only PhP35.

Chef's Work (to share) PhP175

Chef's Work had a lot of fresh greens topped with tomatoes, slices of beef and parmesan cheese. The dressing was not enough though. The serving was big, we could not even finish the entire thing! In fact, we were not able to taste the bread on the side.
