Tips On How To Organize Your Bedroom Closet

As you have read in my previous posts, I stayed home these past couple of days because I was not feeling well. Even when I am sick, I always wanted to do something so I turned to a long overdue task - organizing my bedroom closet. You see, I try to reorganize my stuff at least once every quarter. What about you?

Tip #1: Choose the type of hanger you want to use

I could not stand to see clutter inside our house. I wanted everything in place. A priest who revisited our home several years after he blessed it commented that my house looks just as he remembered it, like it's still new. Fact is, my home is already close to 10 years old ; p

Anyway, going back to my organizational skills, I once helped a friend who now lives in New Zealand segregate and organize all their clothes. Yes, including the clothes of her husband and kid ; p Thinking back, I should have charged her for my skill lol

Tip #1: Choose the type of hanger you want to use

There are several choices out there, all you need to do is go to a home store and spot which one suits your closet. I opted for wood. To know which one is DH's and which one is mine, I bought 2 colors - light and dark.

For more tips on how to organize your bedroom closet, read after the break...

Home Improvement: Komodo Teak Wood Garden Set

Remember my Cafe Juanita entry? We ate there that night because we just came from Komodo Artscrafts Inc. in Pioneer St., Mandaluyong where we placed a 50% down payment for a round garden table and four traditional stackable armchair. We have been eyeing their outdoor garden set for quite some time - by that I mean from the moment we acquired our home which was more than 5 years ago ; p

It was finally delivered last June 15. I was so excited. If you are a follower on twitter and facebook, you should have already seen a few of the photos that I took of the garden set.

By the way, I specially requested for the cast-iron like logo to be placed on all the items that we bought. I was told that all the new furniture do not carry them anymore. I gave my best doe-eyed look to Irene who was very accommodating despite the fact that we were there 15 minutes before closing time, she said she will request it from their head office. I am very happy that the logo found its way to my garden set.

My Review: Obagi-C RX System C-SunGuard SPF 30

By now, most of you have read about the House Of Obagi (HOO) that I have attended two months ago. What I didn't tell you is that I was given a box of Obagi-C RX System C- Sunguard with SPF 30... woot!

I was quite happy with my Pevonia Botanica Ligne Soleil sunblock so I was not able to try this product sooner. Fact is that I tend to stick with one brand if the product suits me well. Case in point, the bottle I had was already half empty when I gave it away to my mom. Yes, I have to part with a product to give way to other brands so I can share my experience with you, my dear readers ; )

What is Sun Protection Factor (SPF)?

SPF numbers signify the duration of protection against UVB rays versus not using a sunscreen. E.g. no sunscreen= sunburn onset 10 minutes; SPF 30= sunburn onset 300 minutes.

UVA:

  • Penetrates skin more deeply than UVB
  • Plays a major role in accelerating photoaging: wrinkles, skin roughening, blotchy skin color, brow spots, poor skin tone, sallowness
  • Can contribute to development of skin cancer

UVB:

  • Penetrates skin less deeply than UVA
  • Is a primary cause of sunburn
  • Plays a key role in the development of skin cancer
  • Contributes to photoaging

Home Improvement: Malaysian Wood Stool

July is the start of the sale season here in the Philippines. Last Sunday, July 3, 2011, we were in SM Megamall. We got there pretty early so we were able to park right away. Just a tip, if you are going to SM Megamall on a weekend, make sure that you go there by 10am or else you will have difficulty in finding a parking slot.

wooden stool Made in Malaysia PhP1, 495 each

Every time we visit SM Megamall, we go to the Furniture Section. We have been eyeing the stools above for a few months. The last time SM Megamall was on sale, only one stool was left and it has some missing parts and a couple of minor scratches. It was selling at a discounted price. I just can't remember how much. Even if it is on sale, who would want to buy a stool with missing parts, right? We went back a couple of times after that and it turned out there was no stock available.

Tips on US Visa application with a Philippine passport

This is a repost from 2008 haha I don't know if it is still the same but I hope this can help!

I went to the US Embassy with an armload of brown envelope placed inside a plastic envelope. Inside the brown envelope are important documents that might increase my chance of having the much coveted US Visa. Although I am just renewing my visa, having an old/expired visa does not guarantee that the US consul will grant you a new one.

Sansevieria and Jade plant

Sansevieria- natural air cleaner PhP250

I lost two of my Jade plants. The one pictured below in white vase is my third Jade plant attempt ; p And while scouting a new plant to add in our living room, the seller suggested Sansevieria. The seller told me that this plant act as air purifier. Further research tells me that it removes toxins like formaldehyde, xylene and toluene. It is also believed that this plant produces oxygen at night making it suitable to be placed inside the bedroom.

Even feng shui are in love with this plant. It is often given as a gift for occasions such as opening of business and other auspicious event. You may even put it in the bathroom above the toilet to counter the draining effect of the flush.

Addicted to pearls: Fresh Water Pearls

I had Ding Velayo, Inc. , a jeweller in Greenhills Shopping Center, replaced the old gold plated earring post and earnuts to a 14k or 585 white gold for only PhP4, 000. My earrings were stamped with the numbers 585 meaning its 58.5% or 14 karat gold. Their logo was also stamped on the earnuts.

replaced ear post and earnuts PhP4, 000 at Ding Velayo, Inc.; restringing of Princess pearls with knots in between PhP400

Ding Velayo, Inc. also does restringing of pearls. I had mine restring by their staff named Jane. She did a wonderful job tying knots in between my pearls. To prevent the danger of losing all the pearls when the thread is broken, pearls should have knots in between. Restringing should be done every year or every other year depending on how often you wear your pearls. Cleaning your pearls with chamois help keep its luster. Wear your pearls often to keep it moist with your body oil.

A reading for plastic water bottle user and buyer

Hay naku super delayed reaction talaga ako! Grrrrrr! Buti nalang nasabihan ako ng trusted cousin ko who is also a blogger. Thanks to her nalaman ko na ang polycarbonated plastic (#7) is really, really bad for our health especially sa reproductive system natin.

I shifted to glass container

So, na praning na ako and I got myself glass water container. Nope, di ako gumastos at bumili. I got 6 different glass containers from my parent's house. They do not use it anyway. Ayan, bagong buhay na ako. Kaso, si DH di naniniwala. Huh? pa alkaline alkaline pa kami tapos mamamatay naman kami sa container dahil sa BPA. Hay.... anu b ayan?!?

US Visa tidbits!

So, weeks before up to the day before the interview date , I have accumulated most of the documents that would prove that I am a returning visitor and will not overstay in their country. In the Pavilion area, a lady beside me even showed all documents placed neatly in a folder that she was willing to show to the consul as she was previously denied.
