Yukinohana Restaurant in Timog Quezon City

September 8, 2012

Yukinohana
Timog,  Quezon City

It was supposed to be just our usual Saturday date night but as the night progressed, my ulcer was killing me. It started about a month ago but got worse on Thursday so I was not able to enjoy the Nail Sparty brought by Max Factor. By Saturday night, I was throwing up, I have no energy left within me so I just cried until I fell sleep.

Anyway, everything happened right after dinner that Saturday. Hours before that, I was feeling fine. After office, DH and I, as usual, were looking for a new place to eat. I suggested Hwa Roro and Yoogane. Hwa Roro is a new Korean BBQ buffet restaurant but we just came from Serenitea's new branch in Tomas Morato for afternoon snack so we thought we would visit this restaurant some other time. We moved to Yoogane in Il Terrazzo. We were actually already seated inside Yoogane but for some reason, DH decided to leave the restaurant.

Then we spotted Yukinohana in Timog, Quezon City. At first, we thought it was a Japanese restaurant because as DH parked the car, a man wearing a traditional costume was by the door. It must be an authentic Japanese restaurant or so we thought ; p

The same man lets us choose where to seat as he hand over the menu. My stomach was already growling from hunger. Perusing the menu, apparently, this is a Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant ; p The man is not even Japanese, he is Korean lol He is not even the cook, for goodness' sake!

Pork Soy Grill, the one shown in the photo above, came out last. At that point, I was already feeling queasy. We have no choice but to take home the entire dish.

I was able to taste it the next day. It tasted exactly like the Chinese staple, char siu (barbecued meat). It was sweet and tender.

More after the break...

Chung Mi Rae Korean Delicacies in Timog, Quezon City

May 19, 2012

Chung Mi Rae

Timog Ave. cor. Scout Tuazon,
Quezon City

The day we arrived from Taiwan, DH and I realized how much we miss Korean BBQ. We remembered the waitress in Yawori who has told us that there were several Korean restaurants around the area so we went around Timog Ave. and found a hole-in-the-wall Korean restaurant- Chung Mi Rae.

When you get past the stench and settled in your seat, you will discover that Chung Mi Rae serves delectable Korean BBQ.

We only ordered Anshim, pretty pricey but well worth every peso. An order of grilled tenderloin comes with slices of onions and potaoes, garlic and enoki mushroom.

I was recently invited to a newly opened restaurant along Timog Ave., Quezon City called Chick-In. I learned that this is already the third branch, the other two are found in San Antonio Village, Makati City (5536715) and EDSA cor. Taft Ave., Pasay City (4782077).

Smoked Chorizo from Boracay PhP55/ stick

Let me start by raving about my favorite... smoked chorizo from Boracay! I am not ashamed to say that I finished two sticks. Chorizo brings back good memories of the original chori-burger from Boracay.

Chorizo (pork sausage) is best paired with rice! A stick consist of 3 slices of smoked chorizo.

Don't you just hate it when the chorizo you are eating has a lot of fat? Well, this one is meaty and delicious too. I hope Chick-In will offer to sell frozen chorizo so I can have my very own smoked Chorizo from Boracay anytime I want ; p Or I could just call for a delivery!

New find: Cuisinier Bistro Culinary Studio

My visit: January 7, 2012

One of Wilson's closest friends is back in town and we decided to treat him and his girl somewhere special. On the day that they agreed to meet, we drove around Tomas Morato area scouting for a new place to eat when we remembered the French restaurant we often passed by whenever we go to Trinoma. We decided to check out... Cuisinier.

It was around 5:30pm when we entered the restaurant to check out the menu. The menu is pretty impressive and immediately I have my eyes set on lamb ribs. The price is just right, inexpensive than most of the fine dining restaurants that we have been to. The only risk we got to take is the taste because this is our first visit.

Quezon City restaurants have one main problem- parking but that is not the case for Cuisinier because it has its own gated parking area at the back along Sct. Rallos St. That made DH finalized his decision to reserved a table for 4 that night.
