Elias, Solaire's Patisserie, French Baker, Sincerity & King Sue

I am featuring Random Eats here in my blog. These are food that titillated my sense of taste like this sansrival from The French Baker (pictured below).

My mom ordered a sansrival from The French Baker while she was having a coffee break. At first, I didn't approve of it, thinking it would be too sweet for them "oldies" but to my delight, it tasted really good! I ended up eating most of it. Uhm, well, I tried to portion control and save my mom at least 1/4 and the rest was eaten by my dad lol

For sweet Filipino dessert, I always go to Elias in Robinsons Magnolia. The bestsellers, at least in my opinion, are the Halo-halo and Guinomis.

After our late dinner at Conti's Bakery and Restaurant, my friends and I walked towards Magnolia Flavor House only to find a long queue outside the ice cream house. We want to have dessert and we wanted it fast, without the hassle of waiting. We settled for Elias instead which in my opinion, did not disappoint.

Two of my friends ordered Guinumis, a traditional Filipino dessert. It has sago at the bottom, pinipig on top and crushed ice in between. I will definitely order this next time I visit Elias. It looks so refreshing!

My friends and I were able to buy Luxent Hotel's Eat-All-You-Can Buffet and Drinks for only PhP 599 instead of PhP 999 from MetroDeal. The voucher is not valid on February 14 to 16 (Valentine's Weekend) so use it last Friday instead. Based on my previous experience, traffic would be terrible if we celebrate it on the day itself anyway.

There's only four stations - Lechon, Japanese, BBQ Grill and Dessert. Well, five, if you count the ice cream fridge located at the farthest side of the room near the entrance.

Jin invited DH and I to try out UCC newest cake creations. I know it will be crazy to turn down such an invite but I have a problem, the event date would fall on our wedding anniversary.  A dilemma that didn't last long because as I continued to read her invite, the second paragraph said that she will be presenting... The Halo Halo Cake!

Yes, she got me at Halo Halo because I have been deprived of dessert for some time. With all the binge eating I have been doing, I can't eat desserts anymore lest I want to balloon up to 200 pounds at the end of the year. Anyway, Jin also promised that we will experience a bongga night ; p

The Halo Halo came in at the latter part of the meal but I was able to taste the creamy leche flan sandwiched in between layers of soft ube chiffon. Cream, caramelized banana, langka and macapuno made up the rest of the filling. Of course, as with any other halo halo, it was topped with cornflakes and nangkasuy ice cream on the side. Surprisingly, it was not too sweet at all, making it a perfect substitute of the usual halo halo that we were used to.

I am happy to share the restaurant that I frequently visit whenever I crave for Tocilog-Bread and Bean Cafe. Aside from Red Ribbon, it is one of the few restaurants that serves delectable tocino. It is located right across Serenitea in J. Abad Santos in San Juan. You would not miss the maroon and cream signage and numerous parking slots in front of the restaurant.

An order of tocilog consists of meaty pork tocino, 2 sunny side up eggs and garlic rice. You can choose from either coffee or iced tea for drinks. Atchara or pickled green papaya together with vinegar are perfect partners for pork tocino.

If you are not fond of pork, there is an alternative choice-chicken tocino which is just as good.

I have read a lot of rave reviews about Kabigting's Halo Halo. I have to find out for myself if it is really as good as they say. DH and I went one Saturday afternoon to try the pride of Arayat!

Kabigting's halo halo reminds me of Razon's because these two have only 3 main ingredients. Razon's ingredients are saba, macapuno and leche flan while Kabigting's has carabao milk pastillas, mashed white kidney beans cooked similar to halaya and cream of corn. The shaved ice of Razon's is finer though.

A few months ago, we saw a structure being renovated just above Alfredo's. Out of sheer curiosity, we went up the flight of stairs. There were bright lights and so I thought that it's already open. To my dismay, it's not.

Fast forward last August, DH and I were able to visit the restaurant again. This time it's already in full swing... yey! There were several senior citizens dining inside. We found a table on the side near the entrance. DH lined up in front of the counter for our orders.

I had garlic longanisa with rice. The order came with two longanisa, an egg, two slices of tomatoes and a plain rice. A vinegar was on the side.

I like my longanisa sweet. This order is not. I blame it on DH for coercing me to order this rather than the skinless longanisa. I only ate half and gave the other half to him since he doesn't like anythng sweet. Come to think of it, I must have fell into one of his tricks ; p

I slept like a baby so the next day we woke up at 6 a.m. for a swim. Except for a few families wading near the shore, we have the beach all to ourselves . We had an opportunity to take solo pictures on top of Willy's Rock where the Grotto can be found.

At around 8 a.m., we went back to La Bella Casa to eat our breakfast. Afterwards, we went back to exploring the stretch of Stations 1 to 3 again.

The day before, Gevi saw the life guard post and wanted her photo taken on top of it. She says it's pretty scary once you reached the top. When it was my turn, I calm and brave myself to reach the top. It was a success!

We pretty much splurge on food on our first day so today we plan on eating in some cheap restaurants and taste some street food.

OMG After eating numerous times in this restaurant, I can't believe that I have not written a single post about Razon's. I checked and double checked under my label and found nothing. When CML and I went looking for a merienda place, I suggested to dine here. It was a simple dining place with a few parking slots. I suggest that you park in Greenhills Shopping Center and just walk across it when the parking is full.

A trip to Razon's is never complete without ordering its famous, halo- halo! If you are used to eating 10-12 ingredients in a halo- halo then this is not the right place to go to. Razon's has only 3 main ingredients- saba, macapuno and leche flan. It's not what we locals are used to but it tastes really good and sweet haha The shaved ice and milk make up for it's version of halo- halo which I find very creamy- a plus factor! And yeah, I can finish one tall order lol

DH was enticed to try Milkyway again last Sunday because he remembered that I was raving about their halo- halo, a local dessert of shaved ice and milk with topings like banana,red beans, gulaman, ube, ice cream and langka. I, on the other hand, was raring to go in because I saw the Benchman himself dining... he might spot me and my dream of becoming a model might come true! lol

Eventhough Milkyway is situated in a classy mall like Power Plant, it has not lost its turo- turo concept. But with our orders ictured below, it was just written down in a small paper. The manager must have sense that I was not keen in ordering the food displayed on of the counter lol

This dish reminds me of Hossein's Mache Polo at a fraction of the cost. Delicious, if you are a lamb lover like me! Tender lamb cubes and savory sauce hmmm... yummy!

Summer Time: Chowking halo- halo!

Actually, I like Chowking halo halo all year round lol They ought to give me a year's supply of halo halo. In fact, I was able to eat halo- halo again yesterday ;p

Chowking halo halo has red sago, green gulaman, langka, rice crispies, ube, ice cream and red beans- my favorite! And the milk! I love the milk mix with shaved melt-in-your-mouth ice! 

I could go on and on with this post but it's making me hungry already! Should I call for delivery?
