1 Peso Appetizer from Texas Roadhouse Grill Shangrila East Wing

May 2, 2013

Texas Roadhouse Grill
Level 6 East Wing
Shangri-La Plaza Mall

DH and I were supposed to go to Solaire to celebrate my birthday but he went home late so we ended up in Shangri-la's East Wing. I was initially looking for this new restaurant called Maple but we were not able to locate it... bummer! We settled for Texas Roadhouse Grill instead because it is a lot like Chili's (It has fajitas!!!). I was craving for fajitas for days, finally, I get the chance to eat one on my birthday!

Jesse James Sampler for only PhP 1 (originally PhP 465)

The PhP 1 Appetizer flyer was handed over to us before we were ushered to our table. We picked Jessie James Sampler because it was the priciest one ; p On my next visit, I will order Santa Fe Nachos (PhP 365) because it looks appetizing, I saw one being served on another table.

Read what else we ordered after the break....

The Highlander Steakhouse in Tagaytay

March 28, 2013

The Highlander Steakhouse
Tagaytay Highlands
Brgy. Calabuso, Tagaytay City

Happy Easter to all!

Last Maundy Thursday, my family and I trooped to Tagaytay for some R&R. We rented one house inside The Villas in Tagaytay Highlands for two nights. As usual, I was tasked to make the itinerary for next three days. One of the restaurants on my list is The Highlander Steakhouse.

roast beef displayed near the entrance

Making a reservation is not an easy task. I tried calling on Wednesday to book a table for 8 but the line was either busy or routed to a fax.

So, the first thing we did upon arriving in Highlands was to make a reservation. The receptionist told me that the restaurant is only accepting walk-ins, all reservation slots were already taken... bummer!

Were we able to get a table? Find out after the break...

Cooked A Half Inch Steak for Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

Every since we got stuck in stupid traffic a few years ago, we promised not to go out every February 14 but that does not mean that our dinner will be boring like tonight ; )

1/2 inch Angus Rib-Eye Steak

I cooked us an Angus Rib-Eye Steak for dinner... yummy!

Wanna know how I prepared and cooked it? Read after the break...

Christmas Dinner in Gulliver's of San Francisco in Quezon City

December 21, 2012

Gulliver's of San Francisco in Quezon City
8th floor, Great Eastern Hotel West Wing
1403 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City

Hello! First, let me greet you a very Merry Christmas! I have not forgotten you, nor my blog. It's just that I have been very busy for the past couple of days because I am finalizing the itinerary for my year end trip to Osaka, Japan with DH. One more day and we are flying to the Land of the Rising Sun. I am so excited!!! It's going to be another winter holiday!

table setting in Gulliver's of San Francisco in Quezon City

When my friends and I have finally decided to have our Christmas dinner over at Gulliver's, I called, made a reservation and requested for a table with a view ; p

We arrived on time despite the heavy traffic building along Quezon Ave. - the curse of December. The parking area (3rd to 7th floor) was almost full. We were not really expecting Great Eastern Hotel to be full on the night of December 21, 2012. The day that was marked as "Doomsday". I guess nobody wanted to die with an empty stomach ; )

Birthday Celebration at Tajimaya Charcoal Grill in SM Mall of Asia (MOA)

October 19, 2012

Tajimaya Charcoal Grill
2137 - 2139 EM 2nd Floor
SM Mall of Asia
Pasay City
556-8929

Two years ago, I posted about Tajimaya Charcoal Grill here. In my previous entry, the waitress kept on insisting that we order their house specialty - Wagyu Beef. So, when we went back to celebrate DH's birthday last October 19, finally, we were able to try Wagyu Karubi. We ordered the cheapest among the Wagyu selection. When the order came out, I noticed that there were only less than 10 thinly sliced beef. For the price we paid, it better be good.

Wagyu Karubi (Boneless Short Ribs) PhP 780

Well, not really! Although the beef looks marbled, it was not exactly "melt-in-your-mouth" that Wagyu is known for. It was a bit chewy. Ho hum...

House of Minis Revisited!

My visit: June 12, 2011

House of Minis
104 E. Rodriguez Jr.
Ugong, Pasig City
6723448

We don't eat beef in our house because I don't buy beef in the supermarket anymore. I seldom eat beef when I am dining out but every now and then I miss the taste of it.

How long I have not eaten a beef? Hmmm, way too long! That's why when one of the members of my family suggested to have Sunday dinner in House of Minis, I could not agree more.

We don't have any reservation but we were given a table right away. The server knew my family because he saw us grow up. Yes, we have been coming back to this restaurant since we were kids. We used to go to their Greenhills branch inside Greenhills Shopping Center when we were still younger. Lately, my family has been accustomed to the ambiance of their Pasig branch so this is where they have their favorite steak.

porterhouse steak mini PhP400; regular PhP470

We had two orders of porterhouse steak. One mini for my brother and one regular to be shared by my mom and my sister. Porterhouse steak is a large steak from the thick end of the short loin containing T-shape bone and large piece of tenderloin.

The steak is served on a cast iron plate. Once the plate is served on the table, the sauce is poured. The result is a sizzling hot steak! Thick slices of potatoes and buttered vegetables are on the side.

Izakaya Nihonbashitei Steak

My visit: October 3, 2010

Nihonbashitei
800 Arnaiz Ave.,
San Lorenzo, Makati City
8188893   8188894

I have a very high expectation for Nihonbashitei. Because whenever my car passes by, the parking is always full. The food might be good or so I thought. But what really caught my fancy is the word STEAK written outside the restaurant. That was why I convinced DH to try this one out.

We walked in a pretty busy restaurant. But none of the behind the counter loud-mouth-complaining sushi chefs which I found tacky in Kikufuji just a few meters away in Little Tokyo. We were quickly lead to our seat at the very far end of the restaurant. Restaurants around this area has spacious dining area. Most of the private rooms are for smokers.

When I asked for their steaks, the waitress told me that their teppanyaki is on the second floor. Apparently, we were at the wrong part of the restaurant ; p Didn't I tell you that this restaurant is huge?

Here's what we ate that night:

salmon sashimi PhP220

According to DH, although the salmon sashimi looks pale in comparison with what the other Japanese restaurants within the area serves, the taste is just the same.
