It's Foodie Tuesday!

Let me share with you one of my favorite dishes, it's none other than Lamb Chops. Remember my post about the to-die-for lamb chops at La Reserve in Boracay? How about Zuccini's Australian Lamb Chops?

The Highlander Steakhouse in Tagaytay

March 28, 2013

The Highlander Steakhouse
Tagaytay Highlands

Happy Easter to all!

Last Maundy Thursday, my family and I trooped to Tagaytay for some R&R. We rented one house inside The Villas in Tagaytay Highlands for two nights. As usual, I was tasked to make the itinerary for next three days. One of the restaurants on my list is The Highlander Steakhouse.

Making a reservation is not an easy task. I tried calling on Wednesday to book a table for 8 but the line was either busy or routed to a fax.

So, the first thing we did upon arriving in Highlands was to make a reservation. The receptionist told me that the restaurant is only accepting walk-ins, all reservation slots were already taken... bummer!

Were we able to get a table? Find out after the break...

Christmas Dinner in Gulliver's of San Francisco in Quezon City

December 21, 2012

Gulliver's of San Francisco in Quezon City
8th floor, Great Eastern Hotel West Wing
1403 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City

Hello! First, let me greet you a very Merry Christmas! I have not forgotten you, nor my blog. It's just that I have been very busy for the past couple of days because I am finalizing the itinerary for my year end trip to Osaka, Japan with DH. One more day and we are flying to the Land of the Rising Sun. I am so excited!!! It's going to be another winter holiday!

table setting in Gulliver's of San Francisco in Quezon City

When my friends and I have finally decided to have our Christmas dinner over at Gulliver's, I called, made a reservation and requested for a table with a view ; p

We arrived on time despite the heavy traffic building along Quezon Ave. - the curse of December. The parking area (3rd to 7th floor) was almost full. We were not really expecting Great Eastern Hotel to be full on the night of December 21, 2012. The day that was marked as "Doomsday". I guess nobody wanted to die with an empty stomach ; )

New find: Cuisinier Bistro Culinary Studio

One of Wilson's closest friends is back in town and we decided to treat him and his girl somewhere special. On the day that they agreed to meet, we drove around Tomas Morato area scouting for a new place to eat when we remembered the French restaurant we often passed by whenever we go to Trinoma. We decided to check out... Cuisinier.

It was around 5:30pm when we entered the restaurant to check out the menu. The menu is pretty impressive and immediately I have my eyes set on lamb ribs. The price is just right, inexpensive than most of the fine dining restaurants that we have been to. The only risk we got to take is the taste because this is our first visit.

Quezon City restaurants have one main problem- parking but that is not the case for Cuisinier because it has its own gated parking area at the back along Sct. Rallos St. That made DH finalized his decision to reserved a table for 4 that night.

Tsui Wah Restaurant Central Hong Kong

My visit: August 1, 2011

Tsui Wah Restaurant
The Best Cafe Restaurant
15-19 Wellington St.,
Central, Hong Kong

With a huge package in tow, DH and I trod to the nearest restaurant we could find which is Tsui Wah (TW) Restaurant.

lamb chops set meal

You know I love lamb. When I went to Singapore late last year, the very first meal I had was lamb chops. When I was in Hong Kong, I still find time to eat my favorite.

The lamb chop was served on a hot plate over mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables and rice on the side.

Best Lamb Chops in Boracay!

I have already made a post about La Reserve's lamb chops over a year ago. It's one of the reasons why I love returning to Boracay! Since I learned that Gevi also loves lamb chops, this is the perfect place. We couldn't wait another day so we had our dinner at this French restaurant on our first night.

OMG! Napapikit si Gevi sa sarap! haha

Chronicling our first day in Boracay!

My visit: May 16, 2011

Boracay Island

Our Boracay trip almost didn't push through. For one, we couldn't agree on a specific date. And when we did, we couldn't find a cheap airfare. Then the problem of lodging came up. But at the end of our three day vacation, Gevi and I now have an even stronger bond. The experience made us even closer. It's like we just pick up where we left off during our college days. We also learned that we have more things in common like our love of lamb and sleeping quirks among others!

 via Air Phil Express

Talk about being excited, you don't want to mess with two girls who didn't have a decent sleep the night before haha We look really messed up here. Gevi, please don't kill me for releasing the following photos haha By the way, it is the start of my 3 day no make up look ; p

I will write a separate post about our overall Air Phil Express experience. You have to read about the  supposedly "online service charge" on my friend's credit card bill that came out of nowhere in my next post!

Australian Lamb Chops in Zucchini's Quezon City

My visit: May 2, 2011

20 Scout Tuason corner Scout Castor Sts.,
Quezon City

I always wanted DH to surprise me whenever my birthday comes. And yes, I am usually surprised because he doesn't make any restaurant reservation haha

We were supposed to dine in Lemuria in Horseshoe Drive but when DH called that day he found out that the restaurant is close every Monday. Lucky him because last I heard Lemuria is a pretty expensive restaurant hehe I was in fact shocked that he considered dining there.

We eventually ended up in Zucchin's. It was not our first time to dine in this restaurant. In fact, we were able to try out their steak back in their old location in Timog.

I like fine dining restaurants because of the ambiance. It's like having your own private nook even though just a few steps away from you there is another table.

Their Australian lamb chops is quite expensive. I would rather eat in Spiral, Sofitel Hotel. For a few peso more, I get unlimited serving of lamb chops and a buffet to boot. Or I can never ever forget my lamb chops in La Reserve, a French, air conditioned restaurant in Boracay. The lamb chops are succulent, juicy and yummy for just half the price.

I like the unique taste of apple mashed potato on the side though. Tiny bits of apple are mixed in with mashed potatoes. It's my first time to try it and I like the combination.

Buon Giorno at Rockwell Business Center

My event: March 24, 2011

Buon Giorno Cafe & Bistro
G/F Tower 1 West
Rockwell Business Center
Ortigas Ave., Pasig City
7103515   5119092

I have eaten in Buon Giorno Tagaytay numerous times. I love the breezy fresh air while dining but I have to admit it's really far.  Well, I have a good news, you can now save on gas because you don't have to go to Tagaytay if you are craving for pizza, pasta and all good Italian food! It's good to know that they have a newly opened branch located in Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas.

beef wagyu anyone?

Did the picture above entice you to read more? Beef Wagyu with Shitake Mushroom was the main entree on the buffet table that night. And I confessed, I had a couple of slices ; p It's so tender. If not for the fat attached to the meat, I could have eaten more. But I have a lot of self control and will power that night lol

Singapore Chronicle: Wong Kok Restaurant

My visit: November 14, 2010

Singapore Day 1
PAL flight PR503 7am
round trip airfare $189.20

My friend, AC and I have agreed to be picked up by their car around 4am. But I overslept, yes, I overslept and my freaking alarm didn't work. And don't ask me why, ok? When I got her text that she, and her family were on their way, I panicked. She lives just a block away from my home. I replied by texting her I'll be down in 5 minutes. That's how fast I washed my face, brushed my teeth and changed clothes. Yes, shower is not on the list! *shmelly*

Jo, AC and I on board flight PR503

We arrived in Singapore after 3 hours. AC's relatives picked us up from the airport. We left our bag at the hotel lobby because of the 2pm check in time.

After a lack luster dimsum snack at King Bee Chinese Food, we met with a couple of friends to have dinner at 145˚ Fahrenheit Prime Steaks and Seafoods. It's a good thing though that we have eaten merienda because the order took so long to arrive at our table. Ok, if 45 minutes isn't long enough, I take it back.

It's hot! hot! hot! in Boracay! DH and I can't find one air conditioned restaurant.  We were eyeing a steak house which I forgot the name, by the way, but as we climbed our way to the second level, ground floor houses Paolo collection- a bikini haven, we were greeted by smothering hotness by the afternoon sun. We asked the kind waitress if there is another steakhouse in the island which has an air conditioned dining area. And she pointed us to La Reserve- a restaurant owned and managed by Frenchman, J. B. Etcheverry.

We entered an empty restaurant, flinched a little and asked ourselves "Should we stay or leave?" Decided to stay since it's the only air conditioned restaurant available. We then made our way to our table.

with Mr. Etcheverry himself

As I was browsing through a magazine I saw an ad about Astoria Boracay- I was ecstatic because that was where we stayed!

Cookie's celebration at Spiral, Sofitel Philippine Plaza

My visit: October 19, 2009

Sofitel Philippine Plaza
CCP Complex,
Roxas Blvd.,
Pasay City

Reservation was at 7 in the evening but we were there 20 minutes earlier. Fortunately, cars were moving fast that night. Stars are with the birthday boy lol

We had buffet that night. The waiters in Spiral are much more attentive and efficient than in any other 5 star hotels that I have been too. I love that they fill the water as soon as your glass is half full. Or fold the table napkin for you when you leave your table to get more food lol And of course, taking the used plate once your done with your food.
