 Sanctuary at Chi, The Spa

Last Monday, I booked an appointment with Chi The Spa in Edsa Shangri-la for Secrets of the Sea treatment. I badly need a spa pampering treatment after my 8-day vacation in Japan and I got what I wanted ; )

Are you curious what Chi, The Spa looks like? Read after the break...

Celebrating My Parents' Anniversary at Heat EDSA Shangri-la!

Last Wednesday, July 20, my parents celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary at Heat, a restaurant inside EDSA Shangri-la Manila Hotel. I was the designated driver for the day so I get to eat for free hahaha

surprise wedding anniversary cake from EDSA Shang-ri la

I asked one of the staff if she can write the words "Happy Anniversary" on a plate with a slice of cake for my parents. I was informed that the kitchen will just give them a round cake which is way better!

Franco and Cookie from Bridges, a PR company, treated me and Rowena for lunch on my birthday. Cyma was a unanimous choice for lunch. The Roka Salata is so good that we ended up ordering 2 haha After our hearty lunch, we went to Classic Confections because according to Franco I have to have a  birthday cake. A birthday will not be complete if I don't blow a candle. How sweet!

Relaxing Weekend in Quan Spa Marriott Hotel Manila

My event: May 1, 2011

This is my pre- birthday present from Pevonia Botanica. Quan Spa inside Marriott Hotel Manila is a relaxing retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. I am so happy that I get to share this experience with DH.

Quan Spa

Quan literally means a source of pure water. It also refers to all things good and pure. At Quan Spa, the miracle of water lies ahead of you.

DH and I love spas! You can tell by my tweets and on my FB wall that we have weekly massages. We even recently discovered a home massage called Spa Amansala but that would be another post haha

While Jen and I were direct messaging thru FaceBook about having Pevonia as one of my sponsor for my birthday blowout giveaway, topic about spas crop up. Apparently, Pevonia distributes organic spa products in prestigious spa like The Spa and Quan Spa. That's how DH and I were able to try Pevonia's Summer Temptation- a full body ritual that includes a body scrub, massage, 30 minute facial and bath soak. Tempting indeed!

The Stock Market in Bonifacio High Street

My visit: April 22, 2011

The Stock Market
B1/B3 Bonifacio High Street
Taguig City
8566300 to 01

I first saw this restaurant when I was still joining fun run. Hmmm, I can't tell you how long ago it was haha But I can tell you this, I am back running, on the thread mill this time!

It was Good Friday, after checking out at EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, my family and I went to Bonifacio High Street expecting the place to be deserted. To our surprise, many people didn't leave Manila at all.

Most of the restaurants are open. The Stock Market is one of them. We roamed around the area and found out that not all shops were open. As we walked along the rows and rows of restaurants and shops, we saw Bonifacio High Street's version of Station of the Cross. I saw people literally carrying the cross. I was just wasn't in the mood to take a photo of it because I am starving.

 Stock Market Harvest Salad PhP325

I find the serving a bit small for PhP325. Slices of pineapple are on one side and cut veggies with bananas, grapes, apples and nuts on the other side. Pepper and vinaigrette are on top of the salad.

Easter treat!

Hello! How was your weekend? I woke up last Thursday not having a single plan in my head. I even tweeted that I will most probably be staying home. Without an advance booking in any resort, I am bound to stay home the entire duration of the holy week. STAYCATION that's the word haha

I was starting to feel bummed because I have zero plan for Holy week. I know, it should be a time for reflection of one's sin but everybody's on vacation mode. I need to get out of the house. I miss the beach, the sun minus my freckles showing up haha Not exactly what I got because instead of a beach, my family and I checked-in to Edsa Shangri- la Manila.

 my sister and I

We stayed overnight in the Garden Wing which is PhP500 more expensive than the other rooms of the same category. No view, just the street below, the additional payment doesn't give justice to what we got.

The room has a king sized bed plus a sofa bed. We didn't use the sofa bed instead requested for an extra bed with a thicker cushion and lots and lots of pillows hehe Complimentary broadband internet and wi-fi inside our room weeeeee!

Our stay at the hotel was not bad because I get to swim for two days! I need to burn those calories from all the food I ate. Pool is open from 6am to 9pm. Pool towels are available upon request.

A total of 4 pax is allowed per room to use its spa facilities like sauna, steam, hot & cold jacuzzi and also the gym.

MakeUp for Asian Eyes

I am not a make up guru nor a make up artist but I know how to put make up on my own. I learned putting on make up from my numerous salon trip. I paid quite a few times for a professional make up artist to prettify my face during graduation, senior prom, debut to becoming a part of the wedding entourage but I see to it that I learn a couple of tips here and there. It's like a free make up tutorial haha

open eye make up

Having a monolid eyes sucks if you don't know how to enhance your God given feature. I learned how to love my almond eyes! You, too, can do your make up on your own. All it takes is practice, practice and more practice!

You should know what we did last night!

While DS was in the restaurant called HEAT with her friend, my parents, my aunt and I had our lunch at the Summer Palace. Dining here is inexpensive with the Club EDSA Shangri-la privilege card. All dine in food are automatically discounted at 50% off. You can even take out all your left over.

There were four of us who dined- my parents, DS and I last Maundy Thursday for lunch. The whole restaurant was abuzz. People were busy eating and chatting.

taro puff PhP 168- updated price

I was not able to taste the taro puff because I was so full already lol

DS for her love of taro ordered taro puff. Thanks to her I was able to taste it for the first time! Soft taro plus prawn in the middle equals a delicious food.

Cheers to Mom and Dad!

My parents were kind enough to let us join in celebrating their 33rd wedding anniversary! Mom reserved 3 tables, 2 pax each, for lunch. They have this policy that you can use only one card per table so even though you belong to a group your table should have spaces in between. Which is not the case NOT HAPPENING in Spiral- Hotel Sofitel.

One table had mom and pop seating facing each other. Second table was where my bro and sis were seated. And lastly, DH and I. They arrived on time while DH and I were behind by half an hour because of the traffic we had to endure of the Mega sale in SM mall. While there, I went in for the sushi to my dismay- no Tamago sashimi. I asked for a shrimp tempura and NOTHING also- it turned out that they only serve it during Fridays. I settled for a california maki which tasted better with a soy sauce. Next stop, the roast beef. As I approched, I can see blood and ask if it can be cooked well done. The man behind the counter sliced thin the beef then proceeded to cooked it well done as I've requested. I got a glimpse of the lambs which is my favorite. I couldn't resist the lamb so I quickly got a piece and ask for the mint which the girl from the counter is hiding the much coveted sauce... DARN! I couldn't get some more hehe When I went back to my seat I have a difficult time to slice my lamb meat. Is it the knife? I asked for a new knife and sliced the meat thruough with less difficulty. But upon reaching my mouth, chewing is impossible. I'm so DISSAPPOINTED!!! That's what I am looking forward to pa naman!

Anyway, got up again this time to taste the chinese cuisine. I requested for the roast duck in a wrapper. Bits of roasted duck were placed inside the wrapper that when you eat it, you can't taste the duck. For my next attempt, I got a lobster and a crab and I let it steam in the chinese section. This too didn't suit well as the lobster become a bit hard to chew and the crab.. hmmm hard to eat. Their salad bar offered enough selection of veggies. I got myself some veggies and decided to get the balsamic vinegar as dressing. I topped it off with parmesan cheese and bacon bits! Satisfied with these! Desserts offer quite an interesting fare. From the teppanyaki ice cream fare to the crepe and taho. The cakes were so many and looks too sweet so I didn't eat anything. The fruits according to my DH lacks in taste.

Overall, this is like a carinderia dressed as a 5 star restaurant hehe And I can't get their concept as being exclusive. Unlike in Spiral, you can eat in one table even as a group and a card is worth 50% off unlike here only 33% and your tables are separated. Their food quality is way too low for the price that they are asking.

hmmm... none hehe
