Once in awhile, my dad and I go out on a father-daughter bonding session. One of the things we love doing together is eating. We were in SM Megamall the other week when we chanced upon his favorite restaurant when he was a kid- Masuki.

Original Mami Special has chicken and pork topping. Unlike in the photo on the menu, the chicken and pork can't be easily distinguished in our bowl of Original Mami Special.

I was in SM Megamall yesterday to replace the battery of DH's watch. After completing the task, my parents and I went looking for a decent restaurant to have our late lunch. We were supposed to dine in The French Baker but the restaurant was full and not a single staff seemed to bother to attend to us. We walked out and went in Tokyo Cafe instead ; p

I commend Tokyo Cafe for coming out with dishes that look almost exactly the same as the photos on the menu. I was half expecting 3 tiny shrimps but I got relatively large ones (as seen in the photo above).

Ginger & radish (for Tempura sauce) and a side salad were served together with Ten-Ju.

If you are on a diet, Tokyo Cafe offers Light Rice Meals. These are dishes on the menu which are small meals that's light on your pocket. It is ideal for brunch or snack. Find out more about it after the break....

J.CO was founded in 2005 by Johnny Adrean. After opening its first store in Jakarta, it has now over 100 outlets in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, China and The Philippines.

Ever since my friends told me about keeping a whistle with you at all times, I became obsessed. Initially, I bought 3 whistles in black, red and blue colors. Two whistles are now attached with the car keys and the other one is now with my set of house keys.

DH and I usually go to the gym on weekends. After punishing ourselves on the treadmill and StairMaster for a good 1 to 2 hours, naturally, we have to reward ourselves after. H. K. Choi has always been the favorite choice of Chinese restaurant in SM Megamall by DH. 

The restaurant is always teeming with people. I think it was two weeks ago that we occupied one of the tables set up outside of the restaurant. We were luckier last weekend because in spite of the reservations made by others in this restaurant, we were able to seat inside.

Taho has to be ordered way in advance to allow the restaurant to prepare it. Upon seating, we always order this and just ask the waiter to come back for our main entree. 

Taho is a Philippine delicacy made of silken tofu topped with sago (pearls) and arnibal (caramelized brown sugar). 

The consistency of the brown sugar varies each time we visited the restaurant. Sometimes it is lacking in sweetness but yesterday it was perfect. An order can serve up to six people according to the waiter. We were only two but we still managed to finish everything lol

Home Improvement: Malaysian Wood Stool

July is the start of the sale season here in the Philippines. Last Sunday, July 3, 2011, we were in SM Megamall. We got there pretty early so we were able to park right away. Just a tip, if you are going to SM Megamall on a weekend, make sure that you go there by 10am or else you will have difficulty in finding a parking slot.

Every time we visit SM Megamall, we go to the Furniture Section. We have been eyeing the stools above for a few months. The last time SM Megamall was on sale, only one stool was left and it has some missing parts and a couple of minor scratches. It was selling at a discounted price. I just can't remember how much. Even if it is on sale, who would want to buy a stool with missing parts, right? We went back a couple of times after that and it turned out there was no stock available.

My friends and I love to shop. Well, they shop and I just window shop haha On one of our shopping trips, we went to SM Megamall. We initially agreed to go to Trinoma but because of the horrendous traffic along Tomas Morato, it's payday Friday, we rerouted and ended up in EDSA going South... waaaah!

Hello! How was your weekend? I woke up last Thursday not having a single plan in my head. I even tweeted that I will most probably be staying home. Without an advance booking in any resort, I am bound to stay home the entire duration of the holy week. STAYCATION that's the word haha 

I was starting to feel bummed because I have zero plan for Holy week. I know, it should be a time for reflection of one's sin but everybody's on vacation mode. I need to get out of the house. I miss the beach, the sun minus my freckles showing up haha Not exactly what I got because instead of a beach, my family and I checked-in to Edsa Shangri- la Manila.

We stayed overnight in the Garden Wing which is PhP500 more expensive than the other rooms of the same category. No view, just the street below, the additional payment doesn't give justice to what we got. 

The room has a king sized bed plus a sofa bed. We didn't use the sofa bed instead requested for an extra bed with a thicker cushion and lots and lots of pillows hehe Complimentary broadband internet and wi-fi inside our room weeeeee! 

Our stay at the hotel was not bad because I get to swim for two days! I need to burn those calories from all the food I ate. Pool is open from 6am to 9pm. Pool towels are available upon request.

A total of 4 pax is allowed per room to use its spa facilities like sauna, steam, hot & cold jacuzzi and also the gym.

Home Improvement: bathroom slippers

I learned that we have to wear slippers when we take a bath. Cold can seep right into your feet with direct contact of the cold floor.

When I went to SM Megamall this afternoon, I saw these slippers with rounded tips sticking out to massage the soles of your feet. Bad news, sizes were for men only. Bright idea- I thought to myself that I will just buy the slipper size of DH and I can just share with him the slippers in the bathroom. These slippers reminded me of the slippers you can find in various spa.

When DH saw the slippers placed inside the shower area, he thought that it's for him haha I told him my purpose with the slippers. He tested the feel of the slippers on his feet, he liked it. And as of this writing, he is wearing it while moving around our room. There goes my slipper benefit! Meanwhile, I mentally noted that I have to search and buy a new one for myself. This time it is going to be my size!

Sweet and sour pork is my favorite and I order this every time I visited
Mann Hann lol The pork is not maarina unlike other sweet and sour pork found in other Chinese restaurants. The pork is tender and they don't scrimp on their serving. And of course, I love their timpla of sweet and sour combination! Saraap!

I find the oyster cake a bit malansa so I only had a couple of bite. Unlike the oyster cake of Hanobe na maarina and filled with egg, our order in Mann Hann proved to be better because with the small ortion that I had for myself, I can definitely see and taste the oysters. So, for oyster lovers, you will definitely love this order!
