Chocolate Fudge Cake by Red Ribbon
My event: September 23, 2010
Red Ribbon Bakeshop
Rizal Drive, The Fort
The e-vite from Red Ribbon's PR company, Protege, came a day before the event. Good thing, I don't have any scheduled event that day. The e-vite piqued my curiosity about the launching of a new cake tagged as "Dessert as Comfort Food". Red Ribbon bakeshop even invited a sous chef named Sherrie Tan to discuss about the topic.

Adidas Koolvayuna Slides
Adidas Koolvayuna slides USD32
I am loving my new Adidas fitFOAM Soft Comfort Footbed my SIL gave me! It's so comfortable and cushiony! And yes, it's in hot pink!
When I am wearing it as if I am walking on cloud 9! No pressure whatsoever! I only noticed that my foot sweats more but it does not smell naman lol And because it's in pink, it tends to attract dust more!
I wonder if it's already available here.
*fitFOAM midsole is made of a visco-elastic rebound foam, contours to your foot like a custom mold.

I was once again invited by the force behind Stratigem to taste the latest offering of Gerry's Grill. I am glad to see some new faces when we arrived and some old ones too! Fellow bloggers were already capturing pictures when I arrived. I have to thank the traffic for arriving fashionably late haha

And we're back in Tagaytay! It is so near Manila yet the weather is so different. I so love it there!
We had our lunch at our favorite Japanese restaurant in Sta. Rosa, Umenoya. After visiting Tagaytay Highlands all afternoon, we were all famished! DH suggested to eat somewhere in Tagaytay. I, on the other hand, suggested going back to Manila for good eats because memories of the food served in Cafe Platito was still fresh on my mind ; p But with four against one, I lost!
I quickly suggested Hawaiian BBQ Grill located in The Boutique Bed and Breakfast! Not wanting others to contradict my suggestion, I told them that the restaurant's specialty is baby back ribs haha So, yes, we had our hearty dinner there!

I have first heard about Kikufuji from a restaurateur turned blogger/photographer, Richard. He gave me the restaurant's business card and I, in turn, kept it in my wallet just in case. We seldom go to Makati so I thought I wouldn't be able to try this restaurant out.
Luckily, we have a delivery over a week ago around Makati area. The traffic was not bad and we were able to find it without any glitch!
Alright without further ado, here's our order:

Tips on US Visa application with a Philippine passport
This is a repost from 2008 haha I don't know if it is still the same but I hope this can help!
I went to the US Embassy with an armload of brown envelope placed inside a plastic envelope. Inside the brown envelope are important documents that might increase my chance of having the much coveted US Visa. Although I am just renewing my visa, having an old/expired visa does not guarantee that the US consul will grant you a new one.

One fine day in Tagaytay
Two weeks ago, my DS drove us all the way to Tagaytay for some fresh air. Masipag pa siya because it's her first time to drive on a highway!
I could and would not drive on a highway.
Sansevieria and Jade plant
Sansevieria- natural air cleaner PhP250
I lost two of my Jade plants. The one pictured below in white vase is my third Jade plant attempt ; p And while scouting a new plant to add in our living room, the seller suggested Sansevieria. The seller told me that this plant act as air purifier. Further research tells me that it removes toxins like formaldehyde, xylene and toluene. It is also believed that this plant produces oxygen at night making it suitable to be placed inside the bedroom.
Even feng shui are in love with this plant. It is often given as a gift for occasions such as opening of business and other auspicious event. You may even put it in the bathroom above the toilet to counter the draining effect of the flush.

I found these flowers in Sonya's Garden when we visited the place to buy fresh garden salad and Spanish bread.
These plants are so beautiful, I couldn't resist the urge to take pictures of it!
Nature is truly amazing!
Chippy and my fresh cow's milk
I know, right? This is such an unusual combination! Chippy- barbecue flavored corn chips is my favorite junk these past few days haha My fresh milk has only a couple of days shelf life so even during my afternoon snack, I downed a glass haha

DH has been bugging me to go back to Mey Lin Pot & Noodle House. The night before my Kimpura won over Mey Lin. We spend our regular Saturday date night eating black Angus beef tee hee
I want karaoke night, DH wants Mey Lin. CenterStage is the only way to go! Located in Timog, it has ample parking space at the ground floor and basement.
What got me excited was that we can eat inside a private karaoke room with no minimum consumable amount per room or per person. The usage of the karaoke room was free. I can't believe what I was hearing that I probably asked the personnel twice haha He told me that it's their promotion until the end of August hehe

Cafe Platito atbp.
August 30, 2010
Platito Coffee Shop
Unit #2 Cliff House
Aguinldo Hi- way
Maharika, Tagaytay
It was a rainy night in Tagaytay and the restaurant I frequent to, Buon Giorno, was full of diners. We ended up in Cafe Platito ATBP.
I don't know if the rain caused the service to be slow. It was also hard to get the attention of the server. It might be because of the position of our table which was on the far side. Initially, we were given only 3 sets of cutlery even though we were four in a table. Maybe because we only ordered three dishes?
Here's our order:
longaniza PhP198
This is quite expensive for a local fare. A plate has only four longaniza- pork sausage about the length of my pinky, 2 eggs and a rice. The taste of the longaniza was not even impressive.

Ashitaba Plant and its Benefit
I have previously posted about Gynura Procumbens. A plant that has numerous benefits for our body. We stumbled upon this plant in our search for Ashitaba plant. Some mistakenly named Gynura Procumbens as the Ashitaba Plant. Their leaves might be the same but a closer look would prove it otherwise. The ridges of the leaves are more pronounced in Ashitaba plant than in Gynura Procumbens. Now , before I delve deeper, let me tell you more about the tomorrow leaf- Ashitaba.
Ashitaba
What is Ashitaba?
Ashitaba (Angelica Keiskei Koidzumi), also called DON QUI, a native in the Japanese island of Hachijo (Longevity Island). Ashitaba is also known as Tomorrow leaf and sometimes longevity herb because of its ability to reproduce a leaf on a daily basis. Angelica is latin for Angel. It connotes godly or heavenly effects.
Delish Restaurant Blogger's Night
My event: August 25, 2010
103 Maginhawa St.,
Teacher's Village, QC
3555241
Alright, the big reveal, this is my brother and his friends' restaurant! And for the first time, I organized a blogger event not just for one night but two separate nights. Although I am not really new at organizing event because I used to organize kiddie birthday parties, sometimes even a debut and one time a friend's wedding and my very own wedding haha Inviting bloggers is not a walk in the clouds. Buti nalang naawa sila sa akin at pumunta sila . I have to check, adjust the schedule, follow up and confirm even on the last minute ; p
My brother has been bugging me to organize a blogger event for his restaurant since day 1. I guess I don't have enough confidence about the food that they served in the beginning that I offered excuses so as not to disappoint him. I published 2 posts about Delish Restaurant so there will be internet presence. Read it here and here. I gave it some time so that they could experiment and settle for a theme and make necessary adjustments in terms of their specialty and their ambiance. After all, bloggers will write about his/her experience with the restaurant and its food whether its good or bad.
And after 5 months, I finally had the courage to organize a blogger event. I was not able to take pictures of the food on the first event because a lot of bloggers have shown up even if it's a Sunday haha That's good and I am not complaining!
There are a lot of changes since. New couch, UP students' paintings for sale and a whole lot of new food on their menu. They even have lunch specials to cater to the working class on weekdays. They now concentrate on Filipino cuisine with a little bit of twist.
The pictures below were taken on a Wednesday, three days after the first event. We were only 5 that night so I was able to squeeze in a few shots!
crispy bicol express PhP185
Don't be intimidated about the green sili on top. It was a balance of spiciness and the flavor of coconut milk. And they don't take the "crispy" word for granted because the pork was fried to perfection.
Special lunch price PhP89 with soup of the day and rice.
